On the final night of the week DJ Anne had Barefoot Boogie dancers moving in rhythms which reminded all of us of the Dance Jams of the past. A delicious long warm-up with a middle set of romantic mixes perfect for couples dancing, or just dancing by yourself swirling around the room. Great attendance considering the parades in SF were just ending and there were also several CI events going on at the Contact Improv Festival which opened this week .
Plenty of people returning from NCDC Dance Camp dropped in to catch the Berkeley Dance Jam Barefoot Boogie vibe. This night differed from Ecstatic Dance in that it was a quieter more mellow evening with some eclectic Michael Jackson selections which weren’t in the weekly radio play.
Once again the special Sunday night space with its mood lighting and softer speakers made for a night you could kick back and enjoy dancing or lounging on the couches. No ear plugs required, what a welcome difference from some of the other venues.
